What is the use of value statements if people in the organization are unable to remember them? Proper coding of values statements facilitates recall and compliance. When employees recall company core values, this may translate to improving the organizational condition, including enhancing customer satisfaction. Employees need to understand the relevance of the values and be able to relate to them. For example, Trusted Healthcare

Consulting has done a great job coding the value statements to promote recalling by employees:

"Our Values: HAPTIC

Honesty: We let morals and ethics be our guide in decision making and judgment.

Accountability: We do not compromise when it comes to fulfilling our responsibility.

Professionalism: Excellence and quality drive us in our conduct with clients and the community.

Teamwork: We coordinate with our clients to build a framework for success while streamlining systems to meet patient needs.

Integrity: Our priority is to build a lasting relationship with our clients by doing what is right and building trust.

Customer Service: We strive to provide superior service to clients and stakeholders by exceeding expectations."

Although it is evident that many HSOs have values statements, a majority of employees in the organization are unwilling to put the values into practice because they do not understand the significance of the values or cannot even remember them. Value Statements may promote unity within the organization and quality customer service.

Value Statement Solutions:

  • The development of value statements should include the entire organization to encourage buy-in and elimination of barriers.

  • Aligning values to tactical and organizational strategy is essential.

  • Value statements must consider both internal and external environments.

  • Consideration should be given to community values and integrated to bolster community support, engagement, and loyalty to the HSO. Thus, value statements have to include multidisciplinary participation.
